The Journal of Rock Mechanics employs a double-blind peer review process to evaluate manuscripts, ensuring that both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other.
Once an article is submitted through the website, it undergoes several stages as outlined below:
- First, it undergoes an initial and technical check, which includes evaluation of all uploaded files, checking their format and structure, and conducting plagiarism detection.
- After this stage, the manuscript is sent to the Editor-in-Chief. If the manuscript falls out of the journal's scope, it will be rejected and archived. If it passes this stage, it is sent to reviewers for evaluation.
- During the review process, reviewers assess the quality, originality, and contribution of the manuscript. Their reports are then sent back to the editor for a decision.
- Based on the reviewers’ feedback, several outcomes are possible:
-
- If revisions are required (minor or major), the manuscript is sent back to the authors for revision and resubmission.
- If the manuscript is not suitable for publication, it is rejected and archived.
- If the manuscript is acceptable, it proceeds to initial acceptance.
- Once accepted, the manuscript is prepared for publication.
